Break out the burgundy!

The hottest new colour of the season is a lovely mix between red and maroon, the kind of burgundy that reminds you of a yummy red wine and wipes out memories of ugly maroon school uniforms. You’ll see this burgundy in all its different shades hanging out in all the hip stores...and I was finally able to get my hands on my very own beautiful burgundy piece. This oversized burgundy sweater was hiding in Mr Price when I was feeling in the mood for some retail therapy and promptly rescued me from my fashion rut.

I had some impulsive fun on the University of Pretoria campus shooting some pics of the outfit I threw together the very day after I went home with my new number in tow. Things are winding down on campus as the students prepare to go into exam mode, so I was able to sneak in a few pics without feeling too awkward (shooting fashion blog pics on campus can do that to you...) Luckily my boyfriend’s quite the amateur photographer and definitely not scared to act the role of pro fashion photographer!

Paired with mid-ankle boots, a chunky ring, and a golden chain necklace this sweater transforms from average to fashionable with help from winter’s three key items. What would you pair it with? Leave me a comment and let me know!
Till next time, happy weekend! xxx

Feeling like a million bucks!

Recently the first Zara store was launched in South Africa amidst a flurry of social media frenzy. Situated in the beautiful new wing of the Sandton City shopping centre the store as well as its contents blows you away at first sight.

Being a cash-strapped student I haven’t exactly had the opportunity to actually personally sample the store’s wares. So of course when I heard that Sandton City was having a summer sale I rushed myself from Pretoria to Joburg for some fun-filled bargain shopping!

Now, I’m not much of a brand-loving type, but any fashionista would never say no to shopping at stores like Mango...especially if you’re a penniless student hungry for a bargain! So, naturally, when I found a beautiful pair of camel-coloured high-waisted Mango shorts on their half-price sale I rushed myself to the till clutching the shorts in absolute ecstasy.

I was also able to finally call an item from Zara my own when I bought a capped sleeve black basic t-shirt made of the most fantastic velvet-like cotton.

Imagine me, walking with Mango and Zara bags in Sandton City...I felt like a million bucks! I can’t wait to create some outfits with my new key pieces and share them with my lovely readers!

Maxi Inspiration!

Inspired by my favourite South African blogger Laiqah from Lucky-Packet who always wears the most amazing maxi skirts, I’ve embarked on an epic search for the perfect maxi skirt. My quest is only at its meagre beginnings, but already I’ve found two possible candidates!

First I need to apologise for the horrible quality of the photos, fitting rooms don’t exactly have picture perfect lighting...

My first candidate is an absolute bargain buy at only R119.95, a beautiful purple skirt, complete with pockets (don’t you just love pockets in skirts?) which I found at Mr Price! The second candidate in the running for the title of the perfect maxi skirt is currently on sale at Truworths for only R270! It’s a magically neutral camel colour and has the added advantage of coming with a belt.
So, which one would you vote for?

Mimótica Micola...The science of making all things fancy!

I’ve many times frowned at the phrase ‘I’m at a loss for words’...as someone who always has something to say or a comment to throw into the mix I’ve never really experienced the mysterious ‘I’m speechless’ moment.
I’m a fashion blogger, someone who has a toolbox filled with quirky adjectives and made-up words at the ready to describe any fashionable item you might just toss my way. Yet, I believe the fantastically creative people at Spanish store Mimótica Micola have finally given me the unmentionable pleasure of that first speechless moment... When I first laid my eyes on their beautifully crafted handmade handbags and shoes I was...for lack of a better phrase...at a loss for words!
So I’m allowing the handbags to speak for themselves...something I believe us bloggers should try more often. You’ll find the experience invigorating...drink in the beauty of each picture....and to experience more ‘speechless’ moments visit Mimótica Micola’s website and their

To give you a bit of background, Mimótica Micola was created in 2003 by Racquel Micola, who learnt to sew from her grandmother, a seamstress who specialised in repairing torn bullfighters’ costumes, from whom she inherited an insatiable taste for attention to detail.
Mimótica Micola’s products are handmade using high quality leather from Spain and Italy. You can shop from their beautiful collection online at their easy to use online store or their flagship store located in Barcelona. Also, I’ve got some great news for my South African readers...they ship to South Africa AND their stock is currently on SALE! So, don’t waste any time...do yourself a favour and pamper yourself with a treasure from the Mimótica Micola store. Simply click on the logo below to be transported to a handbag-filled paradise!

Flowers in her hair...

Leopard print shorts, vest and shoes, all Mr Price. Waistcoat, Woolworth., Earrings, Diva.

The previous outfit I created with this specific leopard print shorts from Mr Price has been my most popular post as of yet...Exactly why this post is so popular just completely baffles me, we shot those pictures at the spur of the moment at the end of a long day.

So I decided to create another post featuring these unexplainably magical shorts. While considering where I wanted to photograph my outfit I noticed that the fields all around Pretoria are so beautifully green and filled with graceful blooming flowers. Therefore I decided to shoot this post in a field just outside my parents’ house. We had so much fun with this post, shooting in the field, picking flowers and tucking them behind our ears that I simply have to suggest you do the same...Take a stroll somewhere unexplored, with flowers in your hair and a smile on your face...

Trendy tribal.

In a previous post I ranted about not being able to find anything to satisfy my lust for the tribal trend in South African stores. Well, it seems our stores have finally caught on and I’ve been spotting more and more trendy tribal items in all kinds of shapes and sizes. One of my favourite items that recently caught my eye is this tribal jumpsuit from Identity that’ll only cost you a wallet-friendly R250!

Happy shopping to all my lovely readers!

Singing in the rain

“I´m singin´ in the rain
Just singin´ in the rain,
What a glorious feeling,
And I´m happy again.
I´m laughing at clouds
So dark, up above,
The sun´s in my heart
And I´m ready for love.”
Singin’ in the rain’ by written by Arthur Freed

It’s been raining cats and dogs in both Pretoria and Joburg the past week so I’ve had to dust off the old umbrella in order to ward off frizzy hair and ruined shoes. In the process of searching for my slightly disabled, three year old umbrella I realised that waking up to pouring rain shouldn’t hamper one’s inherent fashion sense and the happiness we find in dressing in something pretty each day...No! Instead we should be singing in the rain, viewing brightly coloured umbrellas as the newest fashion accessory and matching your umbrella to your outfit just like the hip ladies of the 60’s matched their lip colour to their nail polish.

So I stepped out into the rain under a pretty green umbrella from Woolworths that perfectly matched my earrings and ring. It’s the umbrella revolution..and it’s time to join in! And what better way to join than by getting your hands on one of these two brightly coloured umbrellas I found at Woolworths!

HUGE new Mr Price Store

There recently opened a HUGE new Mr Price concept store in Sandton City! I can't wait to roadtrip (or gautrain!) to Joburg to go check it out! You can read all about the store on the Mr Price blog or on the Elle website, which is also where I got the photos!

One tribal print scarf makes all things new!

I’ve lately been slightly obsessed with the tribal print trend... and rightly so, the fashion world has come to Africa and I can’t help but itch to wear my tribal print African colours with pride!
However, it seems South African stores have not yet caught on. After a marathon tribal print inspired shopping session yesterday I was pretty much ready to give up on finding a new tribal print item when I finally found this beautiful tribal print scarf with pretty flecks of mustard yellow popping out all round. I’m in love! I bought it at Legit for only R39.95! Every piece of this outfit except the scarf is super old...yet one scarf makes the whole outfit brand new.
Don't you just love the combination of turquoise jewellery with tribal print? Let me know what you'd wear with tribal print!
